The Programme aims at enhancing the academic and intellectual environment in the Institutions by providing faculty members with enough opportunities to pursue research and also to participate in seminars / conferences / workshops. Participation in such programmes would enable faculty members to update their research and pedagogical skills. It is in this background that the Commission has decided to continue the programme during the XI Plan.
2. AIM :
To sensitize teachers about new concepts in teaching and assessment methods
develop knowledge and skills required for performing the role of competent and effective teacher, administrator, researcher and mentor
to acquire competency in communication and behavioral skills
update knowledge using modern information and research methodology tools.
a). To provide an opportunity to the teachers of the Colleges to pursue their academic/research activities leading to the award of M.Phil./ Ph.D. degree.
b). To provide an opportunity to the teachers to present papers in academic conferences/ seminars or participate in workshops and exchange knowledge and ideas.
c). To provide opportunity to Young Faculty members to spend a short period (not less than two weeks and not more than two months) at institutions of their choice, for a better academic exposure.
d). To enrich the Knowledge of faculties through interaction with eminent personalities from industries and academics. The knowledge sharing will improve the teaching learning process to the students and benefit the society.
e). A Faculty Development Programme (FDP) is designed to train and develop professionals so that they can act as resource persons in guiding and motivating young S&T persons to take up their career.
f). The FDPs provide inputs on process and practice of entrepreneurship development, communication and inter-personal skills, creativity, problem solving, achievement motivation training, inputs on resource and knowledge industries. The training methodology includes case studies, group discussion, games and simulation exercise, field visits and classroom lectures.
g). Faculty Development Programme (FDP) aims at equipping teachers with skills and knowledge that are essential for inculcating entrepreneurial values in students and guiding and monitoring their progress towards entrepreneurial career.
h). SGI has been implementing a range of Faculty Development Programs for the Faculty Members in the state in . These FDPs are designed and offered in association with leading Corporate. SGI has conducted more than 50 training programs and trained more than 500 Higher Education faculty members in the state.
i). SGI Faculty Development programs encourages faculty members to gain knowledge on the subject areas and provides innovative approaches to develop the right pedagogical tools for the teaching – learning process. The program aims to raise the quality of the teaching process of the faculty members.
